ABOUT ME

Hey there, I’m Nick Falsitta. Thanks for stopping by.

My journey as a programmer started in classic games. I was drawn to the directness, the challenge, the way simple rules create deep and compelling fun. That feeling is what I chase every time I open up an IDE. It’s what led me to build my own custom cocktail arcade cabinet for my Ruckus Arcade project and what still drives me today.

For the past six years I’ve lived a bit of a double life.

By day, I’m a professional game programmer, deep in the trenches with brilliant teams at studios like 13 AM Games and Behaviour Interactive. I’ve had the chance to tackle exciting challenges across the board:

  • Porting the monster-brawling chaos of Dawn of the Monsters to iOS and Android.
  • Building gameplay systems for the iconic revival, Missile Command Delta.
  • Diving deep into Unreal Engine 5 and C++ to build high-fidelity training simulations.

But when I’m not shipping commercial titles, I’m a Professor at Mohawk College. Teaching isn’t just a side gig for me. There’s nothing more rewarding than taking complex topics and breaking them down so that a lightbulb goes on for a student.

These two worlds feed each other perfectly. My industry work keeps my teaching current and grounded in real-world practices, while teaching forces me to constantly revisit and refine my understanding of the fundamentals.
